DataLiberation ist ein Projekt von Google um die eigenen Nutzer darüber zu informieren, wie sie ihre Daten in Google-Produkte hinein und aus Google-Produkten wieder heraus bekommen:

Users should be able to control the data they store in
any of Google’s products. Our team’s goal is to
make it easier for them to move data in and out.

Vorerst beinhaltet DataLiberation.org nur hauseigene Dienste, das soll sich, laut TAZ, aber demnächst ändern:

Mit der „Data Liberation Front“ bietet Google Schnittstellen zum Austausch von Nutzerdaten – im ersten Schritt zwischen Google-Diensten, in Zukunft auch für Facebook und Co.

Vielleicht schafft Google mit DataLiberation ja das, woran DataPortability bisher gescheitert ist:

Data portability is the ability for people to reuse their data across interoperable applications. The DataPortability Project works to advance this vision by identifying, contextualizing and promoting efforts in the space.

In diesem Sinne also, fröhliches connecten, controlen, sharen und remixen.

Unterschiede zu APML 0.6:

• Neben Concepts und Sources gibt es jetzt auch People und Locations.
• Optional kann über rdf:about auf andere Semantiken/Ontologien verwiesen werden ohne APML selbst unnötig kompliziert zu machen.

Es können sich zwar noch Kleinigkeiten ändern:

Gestern wurde der erste (von vielen folgenden) offizielle DataPortability Report veröffentlicht, um die bisherigen und nächsten Schritte der Gruppe öffentlich zu machen. Inhalt des Berichts sind zum Besispiel der neue Slogan „Connect. Control. Share. Remix.“ und die Beschreibung der unterschiedlichen Action-Groups.

Also „Spread the Word“ und gebt die Infos weiter…

GraphSync ist ein weiteres DataPortability Projekt und richtet sich hauptsächlich an Entwickler. Das Projekt hat das Ziel, ähnlich wie auch DiSo, Daten wie z.B. Profile oder IM Kontakte wiederverwertbar zu machen (Social Network Portability oder Data Portability).

Bei GraphSync geht es aber nicht, wie beim DiSo, darum seine Daten und Netze an zentraler Stelle zu vereinen um sie mit in die verschiedenen Communities zu nehmen, sondern um das genaue Gegenteil:

1. Pick a proprietary silo of user’s personal social data
2. Write some open source code to extract their data
3. Place their data into the open formats listed below.
4. Link to the code repository on the DataPortability Wiki.
5. Win the love and admiration of a grateful community

Ziel ist es, proprietäre Daten aus Communities zu extrahieren, um sie dann mit Hilfe von Offenen Standards portabel zu machen. Die von GraphSync vorgeschlagenen Formate sind:

1. User Details: hCard
2. Friends List: XFN
3. Interests: APML
4. Updates: RSS

DiSo (dee • so) is an umbrella project for a group of open source implementations of these distributed social networking concepts.

Genauer gesagt geht es darum, offene Standards wie z.B. XFN, OpenID oder sonstige Microformats in z.B. WordPress zu integrieren, um einen weiteren Schritt in Richtung portabler Netze zu gehen. Es wäre also denkbar, dass in Zukunft die Blog-URL der zentrale Identity Manager für die verschiedensten Networks und Communities wird.

Ein paar Gedanken zu möglichen Plugins findet man im Wiki von Chris Messina und einige fertige Plugins befindet sich auch schon im Git.

Vielleicht macht es ja auch Sinn, das APML WordPress Plugin zu integrieren.
