In den letzten 4…5 Jahren hab ich immer wieder mit dem Gedanken gespielt meinen facebook Account zu löschen. Mein Account hatte wirklich wenig persönliches und ich habe ihn fast ausschließlich dazu benutzt, meine Blogposts zu teilen. Der einzig plausible Grund der mich noch daran gehindert hat ihn zu löschen, ist mein Beruf. Mittlerweile bin ich aber der Überzeugung, dass dafür auch ein … nennen wir es mal „Test-Account“ … ausreicht.

Glücklicherweise gehöre ich zu einer Generation die auch ganz gut ohne facebook auskommt, weshalb ich das „Privileg“ habe, meinen Account zu löschen.

Also dann: Ciao facebook!

Wer mich erreichen, mir folgen, mit mir diskutieren, oder einfach nur „hallo“ sagen will, ist (bzw. „war schon immer“) hier auf notiz.blog am besten aufgehoben. Mein Blog hat RSS, ATOM, JSON, Microformats(2), Schema.org und ActivityStream Feeds, er unterstützt Kommentare, Salmons, Webmentions und Pingbacks, ihr könnt mir auf Mastodon, Friendi.ca, GNU.social, STATUS.net, Diaspora (WIP) ((@)pfefferle@notiz.blog), Micro.blog (über irgend einen der oben erwähnten Feeds) oder über Telegram folgen (@notizblog).

Außerdem bin ich weiterhin über Twitter, GitHub und diverse Slack Channels (IndieWeb, WordPress, …) zu erreichen.

Als nächstes würde ich übrigens auch gerne auf Whatsapp verzichten… Also bitte nur noch Telegram verwenden!

Heute morgen hat David Recordon (von SixApart) auf der OSCON die Gründung der Open Web Foundation angekündigt.

Open Web Foundation versus DataPortability?

Im Gegensatz zu Portable Contacts sehe ich in der Open Web Foundation einen wirklichen Sinn, eigentlich sogar eine Notwendigkeit um sinnvoll DataPortability betreiben zu können. Die OWF wurde ins Leben gerufen um Communities beim implementieren von offenen Standards unter die Arme zu greifen.

Following the open source model similar to the Apache Software Foundation, the foundation is aimed at building a lightweight framework to help communities deal with the legal requirements necessary to create successful and widely adopted specification.

OWF schafft mit der Verbreitung von Open Standards also eine solide Grundlage um effektiv <Hier bitte Buzzword eintragen>Portability betreiben zu können.

Das Abbilden der, von der DataPortability definierten UseCases ist dann eigentlich nur noch Fleißarbeit 🙂

…was für mich nichts anderes als eine Trotzreaktion auf Data Portability ist!

Da spricht man von einheitlichen Standards und Portabilität, schafft es aber nicht, gemeinsam an einem Projekt zu arbeiten… Ich sehe kaum Erleichterung darin, statt verschiedener proprietärer APIs (z.B. Google’s GData Contacts API oder Microsoft’s Live Contacts API) wahrscheinlich mind. genauso viele unterschiedliche standard APIs (Data Portability oder Portable Contacts) implementieren zu müssen!

Man kann die Spieldaten natürlich auch im klassischen iCal-Format abonnieren oder runterladen oder per JSON weiterverarbeiten.

Charles Eames hat (2005) einen interessanten Artikel zum Thema „Adding Semantics to Excel with Microformats and GRDDL“ geschrieben (es funktioniert wirklich, ich hab’s ausprobiert).

Seine Idee:

Unfortunately, spreadsheets are a mish-mash of structured but meaningless data; there’s no easy way to tell which columns contain data and which ones are headers. To make them useful, we have to add some reusable, stable semantics to them.

Eigentlich hatte aber ein Anderer schon zwei Jahre vorher einen ähnlichen Gedanken… Dan Connolly (eine Semantic-Web Ikone) schrieb 2003 schon über „Grokking Triples from Spreadsheets„.

Das Identitycamp Bremen wird das erste Barcamp in Deutschland speziell zum Themenbereich Identity 2.0, Single-Sign-On, Reputationsmanagement, Beziehungsmanagement, Privacy 2.0 und Verwandtes sein.

…und weil ich dann endlich mal Menschen wie z.B. Carsten Pötter, Thomas Huhn, Dennis Blöte oder Christian Scholz persönlich kennen lernen werde 🙂

Mein Problem ist jetzt nur noch die Anreise… Hat jemand nen Tip wie ich möglichst günstig nach Bremen komme? Oder fährt jemand aus dem Raum Mannheim/Karlsruhe mit dem Auto nach Bremen und will mich mitnehmen (natürlich beteilige ich mich dann auch am Benzingeld)?

Nach den Gerüchten der letzten Tage, Google, IBM und Verisign würden sich OpenID anschließen, hat jetzt auch Yahoo! angekündigt, dass sie bis zum 30. Januar (2008) ihre Yahoo! ID, OpenID kompatibel machen wollen.

Once you enable your Yahoo! account for OpenID access, you can simply tell any OpenID enabled web site that you are a Yahoo! user. You will be sent to Yahoo! to verify your Yahoo! ID and password and then signed in to the web site. Its that easy! #

Das würde bedeuten, dass die derzeit 120 Millionen OpenID Accounts auf einen schlag um 250 Millionen User-Accounts ansteigen würde.

Auch Google bringt mit Blogger seinen ersten OpenID Provider ins rennen. Um seine Blogger-URL OpenID tauglich zu machen, muss man unter folgenden URL: http://draft.blogger.com/edit-profile.g einen Haken bei „OpenID für Blogs aktivieren“ machen.

Bei aktivierter Option können Sie Ihre Blogs als OpenID-Identitäten verwenden.

Damit bietet Blogger, neben dem OpenID Sign-In auch einen vollwertigen OpenID Service an.

So wie es aussieht, scheint der Trend doch immer mehr in Richtung Offene Standards zu gehen und auch großen Systeme wie Yahoo! und Google öffnen immer mehr ihre Tore für Services und Daten-Portabilität. Mal schauen wie lange der Trend anhält 🙂

Ein weiteres interessantes Video zum Thema „Portable Daten“ hab ich bei Franz Patzig entdeckt: Tantek Çelik spricht über Digg, Data-Portability, proprietäre Formate und den ganzen Rest

Nachdem Facebook Robert Scobles Account sperrte, wurde das Thema „Data Portability“ wieder heftigst diskutiert. Robert Scoble hat versucht, seine Kontakte mit Hilfe eines Scripts von Facebook nach Plaxo zu portieren, was wohl gegen die „Terms of Use“ von Facebook widerspricht:

I am working with a company to move my social graph to other places and that isn’t allowable under Facebook’s terms of service. #

In seinem Videobeitrag bei Seesmic äußert Scoble seine Verständnislosigkeit über die einseitige Datenportabilität von Facebook:

Wieso ist es möglich Daten von Google-Mail und anderen System in Facebook zu importieren, aber nicht umgekehrt.

Nach dem Beitritt von Robert Scroble in die DataPortability Workgroup forderte Chris Saad (Gründer von DataPortability.org) in einer öffentlichen Einladung auch Facebook auf, der WorkGroup beizutreten.

Heute Nachmittag gab Chris Saad die tolle Neuigkeit bekannt, dass Facebook der offenen Einladung gefolgt ist, und zusammen mit Google und Plaxo der DataPortability Gruppe beitreten wird.

Eine spannende Geschichte, da Facebook und Google wohl zwei der größten Halter bzw. Nutzer von Persönlichen-Daten sind und man wahrscheinlich davon ausgehen kann, dass sich beide Plattformen, im Sinne der Daten-Portabilität öffnen werden. Ich denke und hoffe, dass aus dem Beitritt dieser Firmen einige interessante Services zum Austausch dieser Daten entstehen werden…
